Nestle ad complaint

Today we launched an Advertising Standards complaint in regards to a full-page Nestle ad taken out in the Globe and Mail this fall. The group of signatories includes Ecojustice, Friends of the Earth Canada, tww-nestle-adhe Polaris Institute and the Council of Canadians.

Our concern is that there are several claims made in this ad that run counter to Nestle’s own reporting; for example,  the ad states that most water bottles are recycled, which conflicts with Nestle’s own corporate social responsibility documents.
Other claims include that bottled water is the most environmentally responsible consumer product in the world and that Nestlé Pure Life is a Healthy, Eco-Friendly Choice.

See this Globe and Mail article covering the issue, and the Council of Canadians great action campaign.

What are your thoughts on Nestle’s claims of bottled water being a green choice?

Just when are people going to wake up to the fact that municipal water is as good or better than so called green choice bottled water. I think that there is a paranoia that is being spread, that promotes bottled water. Bottled water seems to be a culture not much different that having a cup of Tim Hortons in your hands at all times.

Why have we been silenced. Why the new website with no substance? Does anyone realize what is going on right now? Nestle is making one of the biggest deals in water taking history for the aberfoyle plant. Will we just sit back and let this happen? If you think this company will look to our needs, your wrong. They’ll take every last drop and move out of town and leave us to die. “The Resitance must maintain our goal to secure water sources for the public domain.

I am awakened this late evening because i cannot sleep. I posted these comments so long ago and no one has the gull to stand up with me. Does anybody think its right to have the lifeblood pumped from us and sold on the open market? I need followers to rise up with me and demand a public meeting @ puslinch community centre immediately. People, we are in a life and death situation here. If we do nothing our children and grand children will have to face the wrath. One day abuse of our water source will lead to contamination, nestle will move out to another source and we will be forced to buy from them. This is a democracy, yet we have no voice!!!! I call on every possible person to help me get this off the ground. We are in the 9th hour. Time is running out.
