Guelph Civic League Annual General Meeting – Dec 1st
Hello GCL member groups! We would like to give notice of the next GCL Annual General Meeting. It will take place on Thursday, December 1st, from 7 pm to 9 pm at 10 Carden. We will of course be electing a new executive committee. Note that there is currently a number of vacancies on the executive committee, so please consider volunteering some of your time to support healthy local democracy in Guelph. In addition, there will be the presentation of the annual report and a discussion on where to focus our energies in the coming year. We also will be
“AQUALIBRIA”: ZOMBIE FILM SHOOT IN ST. GEORGE’S SQUARE
This Sunday, October 30th, at 12 noon, in connection with Occupy Guelph, a film shoot is happening in St. George’s Square. It is a comedic improvised scene and your participation is requested. I am writing to you not as an official representative, but as an active participant in the Occupy Guelph movement that started last Saturday, October 15th in St. George’s Square, in solidarity with Occupy Wall St. and the more than 1500 similar occupations happening around the world.

Foodstock serves up local harvest next to site for ‘mega’ quarry

HONEYWOOD, ONT. — A soggy potato farm north of Orangeville was turned into a field of dreams by thousands of foodies who sampled the fare of top chefs, listened to live music and who joined an effort to protect nearby agricultural land.
Some 100 chefs from across the country served up lobster bisque, wild turkey, smoked fish and other gourmet dishes at Foodstock on Sunday, an event aimed at stopping the development of a quarry nearby.
