  • Establish the Speed River Festival in Guelph as a means of promoting the awareness, appreciation and restoration of this natural amenity
  • Build on the history of community engagement through events such as the Speed River Project to use a festival to focus interest on the rivers and related environmental issues in Guelph
  • Use the festival as a means of promoting awareness and involvement of non-governmental and governmental organizations and initiatives relevant to the environment in the city
  • Contribute to the economic vitality of the area through the festival approach – Guelph currently

Guelph Civic League Annual General Meeting – Dec 1st

Hello GCL member groups!

We would like to give notice of the next GCL Annual General Meeting. It will
take place on Thursday, December 1st, from 7 pm to 9 pm at 10 Carden.

We will of course be electing a new executive committee. Note that there is
currently a number of vacancies on the executive committee, so please consider
volunteering some of your time to support healthy local democracy in Guelph.

In addition, there will be the presentation of the annual report and a
discussion on where to focus our energies in the coming year.

Dear fellow Guelphites,

 

I am writing to you not as an official representative, but as an active participant in the Occupy Guelph movement that started last Saturday, October 15th in St. George’s Square, in solidarity with Occupy Wall St. and the more than 1500 similar occupations happening around the world.

CUPE Action Alert
Time is running out to stop CETA – the Comprehensive Trade and Economic Agreement being negotiated between Canada and the European Union.
