Guelph Mega Quarry Meeting

Hey folks!

On Saturday October 8th at 2pm we will be having a meeting against the Mega Quarry at Fresh Start on 40 Baker St. for residents from in and around Guelph. The purpose of this meeting is to learn more about the quarry from each other, have a place to bring up new ideas and strategies, to find ways to support NDACT and to let one another know what we’re up to in terms of defending the proposed site.

We would love to hear what you have to say!

The space is wheelchair accessible!

Tiny’s showdown with Nestle

Read this letter from our brothers and sisters to the north…..
Hello Wellington Water Watchers!
You may have heard that Nestles will be making a presentation to Tiny Township on Oct 11th – Regarding Tiny’s decision to ban water bottles from their municipal facilities.
It would be very effective and important to have a full house at Tiny on Oct 11th – to show support for Tiny Townships decision.
People could sit in the Chambers with refillable water containers, or glasses of water to watch their presentation.
Would you be interested in joining?  Do you know of others that

Petition seeking a Federal Environmental Assessment

Please find enclosed a copy of a petition I have drafted seeking a federal environmental assessment with respect to the proposed mega-quarry. My intention is to present as many signatures as possible in the House of Commons when it resumes sitting in September. As an interested party in this important matter, I am seeking your assistance in obtaining signatures over the summer months.

Ottawa Action

Just passing this along!

Yesterday I got to take part in an inspiring day of action against the tar sands and the proposed Keystone XL pipeline here in Ottawa. It was the largest climate-related civil disobedience action in Canadian history and I wanted to share this video I made with you…  I hope you will consider sending your own message to Harper (by writing a letter, calling his office, or through other creative means).

James Gordon’s Statement on the DoLime Quarry

We must act now to ensure Guelph’s water security.

As co-founder of the Wellington Water Watchers, I worked with thousands of other Guelphites to oppose water-taking by Nestlé from our aquifer, and raise the issue about the threat to our water supply resulting from quarries in our area. I’ve been working for over 30 years to educate youth about our climate and how we need to protect the air we breathe, the land on which we live, and the water we drink.

The DoLime quarry is situated within two kilometres of eight of the City of Guelph’s water… Read the rest
