Walk For Water 102km

Join Shane Philips and friends who will “Walk for Water” on Saturday Oct. 1 and Sunday Oct. 2, 2011, from Guelph to Queen’s Park to deliver the message that water is not a commodity. Walkers will depart at 8:00 am from Planet Bean south (1467 Gordon – Planet Bean is generously offering a free drink to all walkers!) It will always be on the Wednesday in the middle of Forestry Week . This year, in honour of the occasion we have a photo contest that we told you about in June. There are only three weeks left as it ends on Oct 8th. Then the winners will be announced in November and we will have a celebration for them as we finish our participation in the International Year of the Forest.

The University of Toronto announced Wednesday that it’s going bottled water free.
Students will no longer be able to purchase bottled water at the downtown campus and the University will phase out the plastic at its Mississauga and Scarborough locations over the next three years.
