Dear fellow Guelphites,
I am writing to you not as an official representative, but as an active participant in the Occupy Guelph movement that started last Saturday, October 15th in St. George’s Square, in solidarity with Occupy Wall St. and the more than 1500 similar occupations happening around the world.
The Occupy movement is not about any single issue. It represents a mass gathering of people worldwide in response to corruption, inequality, greed, environmental destruction, unjust wars, and numerous other ills that have so rigorously haunted our times.

Guelph Mega Quarry Meeting
Hey folks!
On Saturday October 8th at 2pm we will be having a meeting against the Mega Quarry at Fresh Start on 40 Baker St. for residents from in and around Guelph. The purpose of this meeting is to learn more about the quarry from each other, have a place to bring up new ideas and strategies, to find ways to support NDACT and to let one another know what we’re up to in terms of defending the proposed site.

We must act now to ensure Guelph’s water security.
As co-founder of the Wellington Water Watchers, I worked with thousands of other Guelphites to oppose water-taking by Nestlé from our aquifer, and raise the issue about the threat to our water supply resulting from quarries in our area. I’ve been working for over 30 years to educate youth about our climate and how we need to protect the air we breathe, the land on which we live, and the water we drink.
