Join Wellington Water Watchers' tree-planting team as we lend a hand to the Rotary Club of Guelph's ambitious 13 year endeavour to plant 60,000 native trees on 100 acres of farmland!  Trees and forests are wonderful and invaluable to our communities - they capture and trap carbon from the air, stop soil erosion after heavy rains, clean water before it is released into our water supply, cool the air, and produce oxygen! 

What should I bring? 

• Dress for the weather. We plant rain, snow or shine. 
• A shovel, or use one of the shovels that we supply.         
• Wear sturdy boots, which makes digging much more comfortable. 
• Your reusable water bottle, which can be refilled from the drinking water tank that will be on site.
• A camera and a smile. TWEET or POST pictures from the site!

What skills do I need?

None. The Rotary will have trained Tree Captains who will show you how to plant a tree for optimum survival. 

WHERE: On the northern side of Guelph Lake.  *Important* there is no parking at the site.  You must park at Lakeside Church, 7654 Conservation Road, for a quick bus shuttle to the planting site. Shuttles run every few minutes. There is a special City bus running from Central Station in downtown Guelph to Lakeside Church. Or, to be really green for Earth Day, ride your mountain bike from Riverside Park up the trails to Guelph Lake Dam, cross the dam, turn right past the Nature Centre, and go directly to the planting site. By road, go north on Victoria to Conservation Road, turn right, and follow the signs to the planting site.
